The Rainbow Centre

The Rainbow Centre is a place of warmth and hope for children, adults and families alike.

The Centre (established 1990) is a registered charity based in Fareham, Hampshire. We provide Conductive Education services for babies and young children with cerebral palsy and other conditions that result in impairment of the central nervous system, causing mobility disorders.

Conductive Education is a system of learning developed in Hungary by Professor Petö. It not only aims to improve mobility skills and function but also to affect development as a whole, including social, emotional and intellectual aspects.

We help:

  • Disabled babies and young children to learn to do the things that develop naturally in other children – such as sitting up, standing, walking, talking – we build on what the children can do rather than what they can’t. We change children’s lives by helping them towards a more independent, confident and fulfilled life.
  • Adults with acquired motor impairment, e.g. multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease or people recovering from strokes. It is a holistic approach, teaching individual strategies for coping.

The Rainbow Centre operates on a ‘not for profit’ basis. The catchment area is over 5 million people geographically spread.
