“You have not lived if you have not been to the Great Wall”, or so the Chinese saying goes, and it’s not surprising why! The Great Wall of China has been voted one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Stretching for 6,000km, it zig zags its way across China, snaking across mountains and through valleys.
The China Great Wall Trek for charity is a fantastic 5 day hike along this awesome man made structure. One of the best in charity treks, this challenge takes us over watch towers and mountains, through historic battlement stations that are well off the tourist trail – there are many sections during this charity challenge where we’ll feel the Great Wall is for us only, with no-one else in sight. Rest assured, the Great Wall provides a fantastic backdrop to some fantastic trekking.
Exclusive to Global Adventure Challenges, this most amazing of fundraising events also enables us to ‘lend a hand’ repairing a section of the Wall that is currently being reconstructed. We will each place our brick in this newly restored section, ensuring our own place in the Great Wall of China!
The trekking on this charity challenge is hard, due to the amount of steps we trek up and down each day – it can sometimes take an hour just to trek 1km on this glorious structure! Another highlight of this challenge is to conquer the 1,000 steps up to the wall at Mutianyu – culminating with the ascent of the ‘Heavenly Ladder’.
Following this crème de la crème of charity events, we’ll have some free time to explore Beijing’s famous sites, such as the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square before celebrating our achievement at dinner.
An ancient wonder, an amazing accomplishment… join us on this charity challenge of a lifetime and ensure your place in history as we trek and help repair the Great Wall of China!

Important Update To Itinerary
Day 5 - Amendment to challenge itinerary due to the closure of the Great Wall at Simatai.
The Simatai Great Wall is now closed for renovation and it remains unknown when the renovations will be completed. We have been informed that Simatai may open again in 2 years time, but this is still to be confirmed.
Global Adventure Challenges have been working tirelessly to ensure that this day of your challenge still lives up to expectation, and we are happy to detail information regarding the new route for Day 5.
Unfortunately, we will now be missing the optional activity of zip-wiring into our lodge at Simatai due to the closure. However, as you can see from the map, the new route still takes in a considerable proportion of the original route and we are positive that this will still be a fantastic day with stunning views!
