Understanding our challenge types

We begin our American charity challenge with an acclimatisation trek through Sedona with its popular red rock formations, also known as Red Rock Country. Natives consider this to be the spiritual vortex to the south-west of America and it’s not surprising why – Sedona and Oak Creek Canyon rival many national parks the world over.

The highlight of our trek for charity will be the descent of over 3,100 ft into the mind-blowing Grand Canyon following an ancient Indian trail that leads us into the breathtaking Havasupai Indian Reservation – the bright blue-green lagoons, huge waterfalls and scenery within the reservation are by far some of the best our planet Earth has to offer. You probably have never experienced a place like the Havasupai Indian Reservation - you may just leave your heart there!

Camping within this reservation, we then embark on a series of day hikes that will enable us to explore this stunning ‘hidden world’. Trekking permits are limited and the only access to the reservation is by foot or helicopter – this is a very exclusive and one of the most special charity challenges and we urge you to join us – you won’t be disappointed, we promise!

What goes down, must come back up! Once we have triumphantly hiked out of the Canyon, we then transfer to Las Vegas to celebrate the completion of one of the best fundraising events around – late nights will be had by all, we expect!

Important Challenge Information

On your descent (day 3) and ascent (day 6) in/out of the Canyon you are expected to carry all of the kit and personal items you will need whilst in the Canyon. This includes but is not limited to clothing, sleeping bag, sleeping mat, *tent, *food, *cooking utensils and *equipment. Our challenge leader and support crew will perform a kit check before we descend into the Canyon to ensure that you are only taking the essential items.

*these items are shared and carried amongst the group.

We would expect the weight you will need to carry to be around 30–40lbs per person.

Once in the Canyon, you will just carry your normal day pack for the treks taking place on day 4 & 5.

If you don’t want to carry the items noted above on your descent and ascent of the Canyon, for an extra cost we can organise for a pack horse to take them for you. The cost for a pack horse is £145 per person and the maximum weight of items that can be taken is 45lbs per person. If you do want to book or discuss this option please don’t hesitate to contact the customer care team on 01244 676454 or by email

Please note that the pack horse option needs to be booked 45 days or more before departure.
