St Catherines Hospice

We provide specialist palliative care within Central Lancashire covering the three boroughs of Chorley, Preston and South Ribble. St Catherine’s helps people to live as independently as possible with medical conditions that, although they are incurable, can be treated and quality of life improved. Care is provided free of charge at home, outpatients, day therapy and overnight in the Hospice.

Our highly specialised teams are led by Consultants in Palliative Medicine and we are recognised by healthcare professionals as a centre of excellence. St Catherine’s works very hard to ensure that care is provided in a personalised way that respects independence, privacy and dignity. Our services include support with non-medical issues to help reduce any worries and anxieties that people may have. We also provide help for those experiencing bereavement. In short, we are here for when it matters most.

As an independent local charity we work hard to raise awareness of our Hospice Care and to fundraise with courtesy and sincerity. To achieve this we are entirely dependent on the dedication, commitment and generosity of our staff, volunteers and supporters.

St Catherine’s is known as the ‘local hospice’ because it is an independent charity and has been established and funded by local people since 1985. It currently costs over £4.9m to run the Hospice for a year with £1.3m coming via the NHS.

Hospice care is free for everyone who needs it, but it is not free to provide. It will cost £4.9 million this year to deliver our care of which 70% has to be raised by St Catherines and its supporters by various means of fundraising.

Thank you for thinking of the hospice.
