Weldmar Hospicecare Trust provides specialist services for patients from across north, south and west Dorset who are suffering from cancer and other progressive conditions. Community nurse specialists care and advise patients not only in the comfort of their own homes but in nursing homes and the community hospitals with two additional nurses based at Dorset County Hospital. Day Hospice care is available at Dorchester, Weymouth and Shaftesbury and the 18 bedded in-patient unit at Joseph Weld Hospice in Dorchester offers specialist palliative care. All of these services are supported by a team of professional & highly trained staff including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, complementary health practitioners and a family support team providing practical, emotional and specialist support. The charity needs to raise £4.5 million a year from fundraising events and charity shops towards its £7.5 million annual costs.
